Fifty-Five

Today is my birthday. 55 years. I say this not to elicit birthday wishes (or sympathy) but instead to communicate my appreciation. I feel incredibly fortunate for my life, family, friends and music. Music has gifted me so much. It’s impossible to quantify. Thanks to all of you who have supported me along the way. I know some of you have been listening for a long time. It’s humbling.

To celebrate, I’m going to spend my birthday money on the music of others. I’m also going to give $55 to a number of my favourite charities. I invite you to celebrate with me. Give $5, $15, $25, any amount you can (divisible by 5! of course) to a charity you think does important work. Buy some music or art from an artist (or 5) you appreciate.

I would be remiss if I did not also mention my upcoming tour dates in Europe and the UK. Not sure how many tours I have left in me, so I feel very lucky for each opportunity. My partner will be joining me on this trip and we’ll have some extra time in Budapest, Helsinki, London, Glasgow, Bruges, Milan and Basel. Tips for food, beer, architecture, sights, museums, book shops or whatever welcome.
